My travels and the pictures I have taken have resulted in three books. I am incredibly grateful that I have been able to travel to these places and had the opportunity to have these two books published by interested publishing houses.
Kebnekaise, Nordtoppen och Sveriges tak (2019) Votum, www.votumforlag.se
The mountain’s history and beautiful scenery mixed with today’s gravity.
Pär Axelstjerna was on site at the historic measuring of Kebnekaise during 2018, when the North Peak took the lead as Sweden’s highest point and the South Peak was pushed down to second place for the first time in modern history. It was a milestone in terms of alarming climate changes.
The difference between Kebnekaise’s two tops is that the South Peak has a glacier at the top while the North Peak, which stands by its side, consists of only solid rock.
With current climate change it´s now no doubt that the South Peak will hand over the throne to the North Peak fully – and not just during the summer period. This will be a paradigm shift in what is considered to be Sweden’s roof.
Naturupplevelser äventur och ansvar (2012) Votum, www.votumforlag.se

Join me on 21 fascinating outdoor adventures such as the most northerly tip of the European main land, North America’s Galapagos and the closely guarded Selvagem Islands. Pär Axelstjerna offers an inspiring glimpse into his own outdoor adventures and tries to look at his destinations from a different perspective, mixing interesting facts, his own experiences and aspects affecting the environment. He wants to inspire and encourage others to find their own outdoor experiences. They are closer than you think!
The book Kebnekaise is sold out from the publisher but you may find individual copies in bookstores. The book Naturupplevelser äventyr och ansvar is available from most large bookstores. If you are interested in any of the books but are unable to find a copy, I keep a small stock of both books and can assist you.
Kebnekaise (2006) Natur & Kultur

Taking the last few steps to the southern top of Kebnekaise with legs shaking from the day’s hike is an experience that is hard to beat. If the weather is good, there is nothing to block your view. The view is unobstructed for 360 degrees. However, a visit to this type of environment offers so much more than merely reaching the top: you get untouched nature, uninterrupted vistas, glaciers, and climbing, not to mention many beautiful hiking trails. Pär Axelstjerna has long been fascinated by Kebnekaise and the surrounding areas, and has been coming here to take photographs for many years. In this publication, he talks about his experiences and encounters with people on the trails and describes different ways to the top and places to stay. He also talks about the history of the area, the pioneers, Tarfala and the families of Sarri and Haugli.
